Arnstorf [27.01.2008] – Knürr AG has just been awarded the “Sicher mit System” seal of approval by the Metall Nord Süd (BGM) employer's liability insurance association. The company fulfils all the requirements when it comes to operating a systematic and effective health and safety policy. Occupational health and safety policies form an integral part of the company’s organization and are observed and put into practice by members of staff and management alike. The award recognizes the ongoing improvements within the company which systematically aim to reduce not only industrial accidents, occupational illness and work-related health hazards but also the resulting costs on a permanent basis.

When presenting the award, Peter Dürdoth, the BGM assessor responsible for the seal of approval, explained: “Companies which are aware of their social responsibilities in this way can benefit not only from a high level of staff motivation and availability. They also benefit from lower accident-related costs thanks to minimal rates of absenteeism. As a result, the Knürr Electronics (Arnstorf) and Knürr Technical Furniture (Münchsdorf) business units are economically better off, achieve higher product quality and, more importantly, make the best possible impression in the eyes of customers, members of staff and the general public”.

“Companies which are insured through the BGM are given extra support which enables them to fulfill this essential social obligation and incorporate it into their business objectives,” added Paul Sanders, the occupational health and safety officer at Knürr AG. With the seal of quality procedure, the company has taken advantage of the opportunity to have its health and safety measures checked by a neutral body on a voluntary basis. The procedure also aims to help companies to achieve greater convergence with the international standards in force and to prepare them for auditing.
