Knürr AG offers PowerSure PSI and GTX2 1000 – 10,000 VA UPS in the “extra” class
(Arnstorf, 8 Oct. 2008)- “If an element of an offence is revealed at the respective level of responsibility, as the company’s representative or representatives, this person or persons will be treated as the offender or offenders (§ 93 German Stock Companies Act, § 43 Limited Liability Company Law).
With supply interruptions the electricity supplier is only liable for gross negligence – i.e. almost never. Those who are made liable, however, are the IT manager, managing director, operations manager, facility manager and people in similar positions of responsibility. Specific legal examples of negligent practice are, for example, an incomplete data backup, insufficient maintenance or the absence of a properly functioning uninterruptible power supply in a data center.” Even if Germany is the European champion in supply security and consumers can access a power grid that provides them with 99.996 percent availability, incidents such as the power failure in a data center in Hanover on 2 October 2008 indicate all may not be as well as it seems. According to media reports, savings banks in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein were left paralyzed. A spokesperson for the Sparkassen- und Giroverbandes (savings & loans association) for Schleswig-Holstein explained how, in the early hours of the morning, customers of the affected financial institutions could not withdraw money from ATMs, print account statements, or transfer money per online banking.
And this is precisely where Knürr AG experts come in and provide individually configurable, high-performance UPSs with maximum availability with PowerSure PSI and GTX2 1000 – 10,000 VA. Equipped with internal hot-swap batteries and extendable backup time in the compact rack and tower design, these UPSs provide the optimum solution for server and data centers, as well as for networks and telecommunication systems that require a reliable constant supply of high quality power. As a “true” online UPS, in addition to power factor correction, frequency conversion and unlimited extension options for external batteries, the GXT2 also provides automatic and manual internal bypass functions, as well as an optional external maintenance bypass.
Alongside the GTX2 1000-20.000 VA, Knürr also offers PowerSure PSI. The PowerSure PSI series is configured for flexibility and high availability. In addition to the standard bridging time of more than five minutes with full charge and the hot-swap batteries that the user can exchange themself, the PowerSure PSI can also be extended with 4 additional battery modules. In a compact 2 HU design that integrates with the UPS optics, optional battery modules also provide an additional bridging time of 3 hours at full charge. This is particularly recommendable for external, unattended systems whose availability must be guaranteed.
The problems of power supply in Europe will intensify in coming years.
Preparations for the future are at hand – with sustainable, high availability, investment-secure and energy-efficient solutions for all operations-critical and power-dependent applications in the commercial world.
