Global IT experts get-together stops off in Frankfurt

The crème de la crème of manufacturers and users from the world of data center construction came together once again for the Datacenter Dynamic (DCD) Conference, which was held 30 November in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), to talk about and exchange infos on the latest technologies and applications in planning, building and operating data centers. Just as it did last year, Knürr AG utilized this platform, and committed by getting on board with a presentation. The global roadshow, which has already been to New York, Dubai, Moscow, Madrid and London this year, boasted an agenda which was especially dedicated to topics such as mapping and managing data centers, energy-efficient power and cooling systems, intelligent networks, measurement and benchmarking, as well as a special spotlight on IT infrastructure virtualization. Against this backdrop the presentation by Stephan Nagel, Director Marquee Accounts at Knürr AG, entitled “The efficient data center – managing capital, costs and processes,” highlighted the fact that the efficiency of data centers today is no longer based on the “energy” factor alone – a holistic examination of the entire infrastructure is also required. “Only when an optimum controlling of investments, operating costs, processes and HR use is achieved can data centers work more efficiently and save up to 80% on energy costs,” says Mr. Nagel. A well thought-through IT management system is therefore indispensable for the effective operation of data centers, which, despite the enormous costs, are always the centerpiece of every well equipped company. “A data center's performance optimization, which, in addition to monitoring and controlling, also includes the supervision of physical resources and management processes, is indispensable in ensuring a more profitable operation,” explained Mr. Nagel, and underscored his model with reports from customers that very clearly showed cost savings provided by the improved management.
The upcoming DCD conferences to be held this year in Toronto, Paris and Dallas will once again provide an exceptional platform for comprehensive and in-depth information and opinion exchanges between trade visitors and renowned IT industry experts. |
