How much does it cost to set up a control centre?
The cost of a control centre depends on many factors, such as the number and configuration of workstations, KVM technology, media technology and redundancy requirements, and is calculated on a project-by-project basis. A small control centre with just a few workstations costs significantly less than a control centre with a video wall and redundant technology. Following a needs assessment, Knürr provides a detailed quotation rather than flat-rate prices.
What is the difference between a control centre, a control room and a monitoring room?
The terms ‘control centre’, ‘control room’ and ‘operations center’ all refer to the same basic concept – a room for the central monitoring and control of processes – but differ in their usage across different sectors. ‘Control centre’ is commonly used by public authorities and emergency services, ‘control room’ in the energy and process industries, and ‘monitoring room’ as an overarching term. When it comes to planning, the function of the room is more important than its name.
What standards apply to control centre planning?
The international standard ISO 11064 on the ergonomic design of control centres is the key reference for control centre planning, supplemented by DGUV 215-410 for computer workstations and other relevant workplace regulations. How long does it take to set up a control centre?
The time taken to set up a control centre depends on the scope, technology and structural requirements, and is set out in the project plan. Planning, manufacture and installation take place in successive phases, which Knürr coordinates with you. A reliable schedule is drawn up following the initial needs assessment.
What makes a control room desk ergonomic?
An ergonomic control room desk features an electrically height-adjustable work surface and monitor shelf. In addition, the monitor shelf is depth-adjustable to allow for an individually adjustable viewing distance. For 24/7 operation, durable and robust mechanics, reliable IT technology and ease of maintenance are essential. These criteria are based on ISO 11064.
Can an existing control centre be retrofitted?
Yes, in many cases an existing control centre can be upgraded rather than completely replaced. Thanks to the modular design of Knürr’s systems, you can add individual workstations, technical equipment or video walls. Knürr will carry out an on-site assessment to determine which parts of the existing control centre can continue to be used.
