The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is Germany’s central cybersecurity authority. The National IT Situation Center in Bonn is responsible for continuously assessing the cybersecurity situation and supports the BSI in detecting and analyzing cyberattacks at an early stage and coordinating responses across government agencies.

As part of the new construction project, Knürr implemented a comprehensive control center solution that combines ergonomic control center workstations, structured technology integration, modern lighting and acoustic solutions, and custom-designed control room furniture.

The result is a high-performance, highly integrated, and future-proof work environment that sustainably supports security, clarity, and ease of use in continuous situation management operations.

The Initial Situation and Challenge

When equipping the new National IT Situation Center, particular consideration had to be given to reliable 24/7 operation, the large number of technical interfaces, and integration into a technically complex overall project. At the same time, project-specific design specifications and the requirements of the client, architect, and participating trades had to be precisely coordinated.

Knürr supplied a comprehensive control room solution for the BSI’s National IT Situation Center, which was specifically designed to meet the requirements of a security-critical, continuously operated situation center.

• Consistent cable management for organized, secure, and expandable cable routing from the equipment base to the monitor level.

• Glare-free, uniform workstation lighting provided by continuously dimmable and tiltable Knürr® Lumax lights

• Integrated status lights for quick visual identification of relevant operational and workstation statuses

• Integrated power supply with labeled connection points for an organized and reliable technical infrastructure

• Acoustically optimized workstation areas with acoustic walls and other sound-absorbing elements

Knürr handled the end-to-end project implementation—from planning and manufacturing to installation and commissioning—and coordinated all relevant interfaces with the participating project partners and trades.
