The district of Stormarn operates the Integrated Regional Control Centre South in Bad Oldesloe, which is responsible for the greater Lübeck area and the east and south of Schleswig-Holstein. With increasing responsibility, partly due to the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel project, the importance of a modern, high-performance control centre has grown considerably. As part of a new building project, a state-of-the-art control centre was created that meets the highest ergonomic and technical requirements.
Together with Knürr GmbH, a solution was developed that combines functionality, design and future-proofing.
The state of Schleswig-Holstein operates three integrated regional control centres (IRLCs). The IRLC South required a complete rebuild in order to meet the increasing demands on communication and operations management. The building was constructed to a high architectural standard, which placed high demands on the design, functionality and individuality of the control centre furniture.
Knürr supplied a comprehensive control centre solution consisting of ergonomic workstations, state-of-the-art control technology and high-quality materials. The focus was on ergonomics, ease of use, acoustics and design.
Products and services supplied:
Knürr® Ergocon control centre tables (a total of 41 in various areas)
Knürr® Ergocontrol OPX (control systems)
Planning, installation and commissioning
Special white paint finish, customised to the planner's specifications
Height adjustment of the console and height and depth adjustment of the monitor level
Acoustic optimisation through acoustic absorbers
Integration of state-of-the-art communication and visualisation technology
Use of ergonomic dispatcher and swivel chairs
The new IRLS South offers employees significantly improved working conditions. The ergonomic design of the workstations enables fatigue-free working and contributes to lower sick leave rates. The well-thought-out design creates a pleasant atmosphere that promotes concentration and efficiency.
The project was implemented within just three months and received positive feedback from architects and planners. Due to the high quality, a redensification of the control centre rooms is already planned.
The IRLS Süd project in Bad Oldesloe marks a major control centre project for Knürr in northern Germany. It serves as a reference project with a signal effect for future tenders in the region and underlines Knürr's expertise in safety-critical industries.
Period: August 2024 – October 2024
Number of control centre workstations: 19
Partners involved: ESN Sicherheit und Zertifizierung GmbH (planning)
